ABOUT MUTTLOAF
1What makes your process “small batch”?
For us, small batch is about control, care, and consistency.
We intentionally produce Baxter’s MuttLoaf in limited quantities so we can stay hands on from start to finish. Every step is closely managed to ensure each batch meets our standards.
Working this way allows us to maintain the quality you can see in every loaf and every serving, while delivering the same consistency every time you open a package.
Small batch is how we protect quality.
As we grow, we are committed to keeping this same approach, so we never lose the care and attention that make MuttLoaf what it is.
2How often is food made?
We produce Baxter’s MuttLoaf on a regular, ongoing basis in small batches.
Making our food this way allows us to keep inventory fresh while maintaining the quality and consistency we expect in every batch. Rather than producing large quantities far in advance, we prepare food in smaller runs so it moves quickly from our kitchen to your freezer.
This approach helps ensure you are always receiving freshly made product that has been carefully prepared, portioned, and frozen to lock in flavor and quality.
As demand grows, we will continue to increase production frequency while staying true to our small batch process.
Small batch is how we protect quality.
3What steps ensure quality and consistency?
Quality and consistency are built into every step of our process.
We start by sourcing ingredients from trusted suppliers and using the same core recipe every time. Nothing is improvised or changed without intention.
Each batch is made in small quantities, which allows us to stay hands on from start to finish. Ingredients are measured carefully, combined consistently, and fully cooked using the same process each time.
After cooking, we portion the food into MuttLoafs and MuttBalls using accurate scales both before and after cooking to ensure consistency and that every package meets its stated net weight.
Every batch is then frozen shortly after preparation to lock in freshness, flavor, and quality without the need for artificial preservatives.
We also maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment and follow standard food handling practices throughout the process.
At the end of the day, our standard is simple.
If it is not good enough for Baxter, it is not good enough to serve.
4How is the food stored? (fresh, frozen, refrigerated)
Baxter’s MuttLoaf is stored frozen to maintain freshness, quality, and safety.
After cooking and portioning, each batch is frozen shortly after preparation. This helps lock in flavor and nutritional integrity without the need for artificial preservatives.
When you are ready to use it, simply thaw in the refrigerator and serve as needed. Once thawed, MuttLoaf should be kept refrigerated and used within a few days, just like fresh food in your own kitchen.
Freezing allows us to keep the food simple, clean, and convenient, while giving you flexibility in how and when you feed your dog.
